Let Everything That Has Breath Praise the Lord!

Rejoice exceedingly with great joy!

A few years back, I had the opportunity to enter a house of worship unlike any other I’d ever been in before or since. It was amazing. There was an energy in the air – an excitement of anticipation – for what the congregation was expecting. Oh, and the worship team was amazing. The lighting was extravagant, but tasteful. The band was tremendous. The worship team was adorned in matching attire. There was joyous clapping and sorrowful crying. The eyes and ears of the congregation were focused on what was happening. To say that the congregation was engaged would be the greatest of understatements. People celebrated and rejoiced … over an athletic event. Don’t try to tell me worship didn’t happen that day.

But how does such a fleeting moment compare with our worship of the Son of God? Who was, and is, and is to come. The Eternal One who came to seek and to save that which was lost. The One who saved you and me. He alone is worthy of our worship. Somewhere along the way, though, we’ve equated reverence with being quiet and stoic. Yet, throughout Scripture, we are admonished, encouraged, exhorted to make a JOYFUL NOISE unto the Lord. Enter into His presence with thanksgiving. Praise the Lord!

PSALM 150

Praise the Lord!
Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens!
Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness!

Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals! Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord!

There’s nothing quiet about it! Let our worship of Him not be quiet!
