Life groups are an essential part of every church. It’s where we form our closest bonds with fellow church members—those we can call on at a moment’s notice for a prayer request, or say, “We missed you today,” or just to talk. Ultimately, these bonds can last for a lifetime.
When I became a member of Eastmont in 1990, I joined Dennis Spaeth’s College and Career class. A year later, as many of us started to get married, Dennis’s class transitioned to the Newly and Nearly Married class. A decade later, many of our class members joined Alan Nicholson’s couples’ class. To this day, I still feel intrinsically connected to those I became friends with over thirty years ago.
Not only can you forge friendships that last a lifetime, but you can also meet people you’ve heard of for years but never really knew. That’s what I have experienced in joining my current life group. I joined a lady’s group that CretiaPugh and Melinda Makowsky started in September of 2018. As a class, we named our group Women of the Word or W.O.W.; and in this short span of time, we have blended and bonded in such an effortless way. We’ve bonded through tears as many members in our class have suffered loss, through laughter while playing hilarious games at class parties, through studying God’s Word, and through volunteer opportunities in which we’ve gotten involved. These cherished friendships are priceless.
On Sunday, August 8th, we’re beginning a new church year. If you haven’t already, it would be a great time to find a life group that’s right for you. Honestly, it’s agreat way to get connected and stay connected
