Fresh Beginnings

What in the world just happened? It was 80° two days ago, and today we have freeze advisories in effect!!! As the days grow longer and the first signs of spring begin to appear, we are reminded that this season is one of renewal, hope, and new life.

In the life of our church, this is an especially meaningful time. Easter is not just a date on the calendar; it is the cornerstone of our faith. As the Apostle Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 15, “If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins… But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead. ” Because He lives, we have hope that is secure, forgiveness that is complete, and life that is eternal. This is the good news that changes everything.

As we look ahead to the days surrounding Easter, we have a tremendous opportunity—not only to reflect personally on this truth but to share it with others. Many people in our lives—neighbors, coworkers, friends—may be searching for hope, even if they don’t yet know how to name it. Easter provides a natural and powerful invitation point. A simple invitation to join you for worship could open the door for someone to encounter the love of Christ in a life-changing way.

Paul goes on to say that “death has been swallowed up in victory… thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:54, 57). That victory is not meant to be kept to ourselves. As Ty encouraged us to prepare our own hearts for Easter, I encourage you to prayerfully consider who God might be placing on your heart to invite. Your invitation matters more than you might realize.

At the same time, this season marks an exciting step forward for our church family. As we approach the start of our first phase of remodeling in May, we do so with gratitude and anticipation. Thank you for your continued faithfulness and generosity.

We are also nearing the conclusion of our sermon series, titled “A Different Kind of King, ” where we have been walking through the Gospel of Mark. In a world that often defines power and leadership in terms of strength, status, and control, Jesus has revealed a kingdom that looks entirely different—marked by humility, service, sacrifice, and love. As we come toward the end of this journey, my prayer is that we not only understand more clearly who Jesus is but that we follow Him more faithfully in our everyday lives.

All of these things—the promise of Easter, the opportunity to reach others, and the truth of Christ’s kingdom—come together in this season of spring. It is a time of fresh beginnings, both around us and within us.

As we celebrate the resurrection together, let us also share the hope it brings with a world that desperately needs it.
