Who Will You Invite? Reclaiming the Heart of Evangelism

There is a word that often strikes fear in the hearts and minds of many Christians. This word is so terrifying that when it gets mentioned, many squirm and are flooded with a mixture of feelings ranging from inadequacy to guilt. That word – EVANGELISM. Did you shudder or get chill bumps?

Evangelism is a word that describes how one believer tells others about Jesus. Strangely enough, the work of evangelism is the beginning of discipleship, which then results in evangelism. Throughout church history (especially in the early church), it has been inconceivable that one would have been introduced to Jesus and come to know Him by grace through faith and then not tell other people this amazing news. We have strategies, tools, and presentations galore, yet many in the River Region have never heard the clear message of the Gospel, and many more have never believed on Jesus unto salvation.

Several surveys indicate that many people would respond to an invitation to talk about spiritual matters and even to an invitation to church if only they were asked. As we draw closer to Resurrection Sunday, would you consider whom you can engage with the Gospel? Who can you invite to come with you and “behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world?” Eastmont, our mission and responsibility is to utilize every opportunity to make much of Jesus, and tell the world about His redeeming grace.
