Preparing for Phase 3 of Reopening

An update on the 5 Phases of Reopening:

Lately, I have been in Walmart, COSTCO, Publix, convenience stores, and several restaurants. Although every business I have been to has adhered to all the COVID-19 guidelines, I have come to the realization that the safest place I have been is in worship on Sundays at Eastmont. I feel as comfortable at church as I do in my own home except for the fact that I don’t wear a mask in my house. I say that so that when you are ready to come back you can do it and not be afraid.

Phase 3

We are ready to begin Phase 3 and hopefully, Phase 4 shortly thereafter. Our plan is to begin LifeGroups/Sunday School in-person at the church beginning Sunday, August 9, at 10:00 am for some of our adult groups and our youth. We project September 13 to offer modified preschool and children’s classes. These are target dates and we want to proceed with all care and prayer in providing these vital ministries in the safest and wisest environments possible. Please go to Eastmont.org and keep abreast of information concerning these phases of reopening.

Worship and Bible study are the lifeblood to Eastmont and all churches. But Bible study, prayer, and worship only prepare us to serve, minister and share the gospel. It is proven that children seem pretty resilient to this virus, but that is not true for many of our oldest members who teach them and work with them on Sundays and Wednesdays. This means that some of our younger adult men and women will need to step up to the plate and offer to serve.

Ministry Needs

Our staff and servant leaders in the church need to be reaching out to all our members and especially our senior adults who live alone, as well as older couples who are unable to cut the grass or change a light bulb. There are many ministry needs outside our membership. These ministries to the community need volunteers, prayer support, and financial support. There is an abortion clinic downtown that murders innocent babies every Friday morning and the need for prayer warriors to be present to pray at 6:00 am every week is vitally needed. No training is required—just show up.

There is so much we can do if we want to. I am praying that the Holy Spirit will move in my heart and life and in yours too so that we might see a mighty work by our Mighty God that will leave all of us speechless! My answer to COVID-19 is, “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28).
